Health authorities confirmed that the bio-secure bubble maintained for the Esala Perahara in Kandy was secure and there was no breach whatsoever.

They were referring to several media reports claiming that the bio-secure bubble was violated during the Esala Perahara in Kandy. They claimed that 16 police officers deployed for the procession had tested positive for the virus.

Everyone who took part in the annual cultural ceremony went through multiple PCR and rapid antigen tests.

Even the Police officers who were deployed for the security of the event remained under the bubble and went through relevant tests.
