JVP Parliamentarian Vijitha Herath said 12 staff members of Parliamentarians have tested positive for COVID19.

The PCR tests carried in Parliament have confirmed that 12 staffers have contracted the virus, the JVP MP said.

Meanwhile, 6 MPs have tested positive for COVID19 thus far during the current wave. The 6th MP, Gajendra Kumar Ponnambalam, was tested positive for the virus yesterday.

Herath said it was the government's negligence that led to the current situation.

"The government acted with arrogance and was not willing to the health experts. As a result, the entire country has now turned into a mass funeral," Herath said while speaking in Parliament.
