State Minister Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulla has cancelled her son's wedding reception due to the current situation in the country.

The wedding will now take place as a personal event without the participation of any invitees, family sources said.

The government recently announced new restrictions on weddings limiting the number of participants to 50 from 150.

However, health authorities have strictly advised the public to avoid all kinds of gatherings due to the rising number of COVID cases.

The State Minister's move is praised by many as an example to the general public.
