SJB MP Harshana Rajakaruna crematoriums in Sri Lanka had run out of capacity due to the rising number of COVID19 deaths.
Rajakaruna said some crematoriums had introduced a "waiting list" for the first time in hiistory while some crematoriums had broken down due to exessive use.
"This is an unprecedented situation in the country. we don't know what will happen next," he added.
The SJB MP even private hospitals were running out of capacity and COVID19 patients were unable to find hospital beds. He added that the government must take immediate steps to address the current situation.
However, the government has repeatedly denied calls for a lockdown placing its faith in the ongoing vaccination drive.
