The Kandy Esala Perahera festival 2021 will take place without the participation of the general public as per the recommendations of the health authorities.

Strict health regulations will be followed when preparing for the annual procession. The procession, however, will be telivised and aired on media platforms.

The procession will include a number of traditional dancers and many others who perform specific activities.

The Esala Perahara is the most notable religious ceremony in Sri Lanka and it is also considered one of the largest tourist attractions in the country.
