Three state ministers are currently touring in Japan with Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa who is accompanying the Sri Lankan team taking part in Tokyo Olympics 2021.

State Ministers Thenuka Vidanagamage, DV Chanaka and Roshan Ranasinghe are currently in Japan with the Sports Minister. It is not exactly clear as to why four members of the government chose to fly to Japan with the Sri Lankan sportsmen taking part in Tokyo Olympics.

However, when the matter was raised at the weekly Cabinet meeting today, Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the government members touring in Japan were not funded by the government.

"They have their own private funding channels. So, it is not a burden on the Treasury," Rambukwella said.
