Wife of MP Rishad Bathiudeen, his father-in-law and brother-in-law have been arrested in connection with the death of a 16-year-old who was employed as a domestic worker at the MP's house.

The police previously recorded statements from the family members of the parliamentarian over the death of the girl.

The girl was admitted to hospital with severe burn injuries two weeks ago and she later succumbed to the injuries.

The post mortem inquiry revealed that the girl was sexually abused. Accordingly, police investigations are now underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to her death.

Statements have been recorded from the parents of the deceased girl as well.
