A number of teachers unions are currently staging a protest in front of the Fort railway station demanding immediate solutions to their grievances.

A large number of teachers have gathered in the Fort area blocking the vehicle movement at the heart of the city.

The discussions they held with Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris ended inconclusively and the teachers have vowed to continue their fight until a permanent solution is formulated.

As a result of the ongoing union action, teachers have withdrawn from online education activities.
