The discussions held between the Minister of Education and the teachers unions this morning (20) ended without a final agreement, said the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers' Services Union, Mahinda Jayasinghe.

Therefore, the ongoing teachers' strike will continue and a massive protest will be held in Colombo tomorrow (22), he said.

Although the Minister promised to submit a proposal to the Cabinet on Monday (26) to resolve the current issue of salary anomalies for teachers, Jayasinghe says teachers will not abandon the trade union action until a permanent solution is found.
