The President and the Prime Minister have instructed all ruling party MPs to stay in Colombo today and tomorrow to debate the no-confidence motion against Minister Udaya Gammanpila.
The President and the Prime Minister have informed all government members to extend their maximum contribution to defeat the resolution.
The no-confidence motion was presented against Gammanpila by the SJB when tensions between the Minister and the constituent parties of the government were rising. However, the SLPP, which severely criticised Gammanpila's conduct as the Power and Energy Minister, has now opted to defeat the no-confidence motion.
The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has also decided to vote against the no-confidence motion against Minister Gammanpila.
