Senior administrator Anusha Pelpita has been appointed the Secretary of the newly-established Economic Policy and Plan Implementation Ministry.

The Ministry comes under the purview of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The new ministry was created after Basil Rajapaksa replaced the Prime Minister as the Minister of Finance.

Pelpita stepped down as the Secrteray to the Ministry of Industry after a dispute with Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

He was then appointed the Chairman of the Development Lotteries Board.
