The Samagi Jana Balawegaya filed three separate Fundamental Rights petititons against the government's decision to ban all public protests citing the spread of COVID19.

SJB General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara, MPs Mayantha Dissanayake and Harshana Rajakaruna filed there FR petitions against the decisions.

In their petitions, they stated that the current ban infringed on the democratic rights of the people enshrined in the Constitution.

The moves comes a day after the police arrested a number of persons who protested the KDU Bill at the Parliament Roundabout yesterday.
