Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said the attire worn by Chines workers renovating Tissa Weva in the Hambantota district was a uniform used by the company which had deployed the workers.
The Media Minister said both the Army Intelligence and the Criminal Investigations Department launched an investigation into the matter.
The miltary-like attire worn by the Chinese workers sparked a controversy in Sri Lanka with questioning whether the Chinese government had deployed their military personnel in Sri Lanka.
The Media Minister said there was no truth in such claims and even garage workers in Sri Lanka wore such "uniforms".
