Parliamentarian Prof. Ranjith Bandara is expected to be appointed the Governor of Central Bank, informed government sources said.

Bandara is likely to replace Prof. W.D. Lakshman who held the position since since November, 2019.

The national list MP is expected to resign next week to facilitate the parliamentary entry of Basil Rajapaksa who is likely to take over the subjects of finance and economy.

Bandara, an economist, is known to be a close associate of Basil Rajapkasa.
