Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe visited the Abhayaramaya temple, Narahenpita, after taking oaths as a Parliamentarian.

Abhayaramaya was the SLPP's bastion when they were in the opposition under the previous administation.

Chief Incumbent of the Abhayaramaya temple, Muruthhettuwe Ananda Thera was highly critical of Wickremesinghe's conduct under the previous government.

However, Wickremesinghe had a discusion with Ananda Thera and exchanged views on the current political situation.

Ananda Thera recently said he was disappointed with the current government and Sri Lanka was in need of a "national leader".
