Many towns across the country saw massive crowds as the Government relaxed travel restrictions for three days.
Although health authorities repeatedly warned the public to exercise caution, such approach was not shown by many who stepped out today after prolonged travel restrictions.
Long queues were seen in front of pawning centres and bars, desmonstrating two different aspects of desperation that has accumulated among the public during the lockdown.
Meanwhile, the opposition said the government had relaxed travel restrictions without a plan to enforce social distancing measures.
"It's important to enforce social distancing otherwise we will see a repetition of the "Avurudu cluster". Why is the Govt turning a blind eye?" SJB MP Myantha Dissanayake questioned on Twitter.
