Leaders of several constituent parties of the government met at the official residence of the Leader of the Jathika Nidahas Peramuna, Minister Wimal Weerawansa.

This came in the wake of SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam's critical remarks against Minister Udaya Gammanpila over the fuel price hike.

The party leaders who met at Weerawansa's residence had decided to support Gammanpila as the fuel price hike was a collective decision by the government.

They also discussed issuing a statement expressing displeasure over Kariyawasam's remarks.

They have also proposed to provide a relief package containing essential food items to the poor people affected by the increase in fuel prices.
