Beautician Chandimal Jayasinghe and actress Piumi Hansamali, who were arrested by the police earlier today, were granted bail in less than an hour after their arrest.

They were granted bail after producing before court for hosting a birthday party last night.

The party was held at a prominent hotel in Colombo with the partcipation of other guests, defying the countrywide lockdown.

All public and private gatherings have been banned in the country due to the sudden increase in COVID19 cases across the island.

The police have launched an investigation to find out how they were allowed to host a party despite the lockdown.
