The Port City Economic Commission Act has now been enacted with Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena signing the Act in his office today.

The Speaker's Office said Abeywardena signed the Act at 11.30 AM today.

With this, the government will be able to proceed with the establishment of the Commission which will govern the Chinese-funded financial city.

The Act was passed in Parliament with amendment last week and it was backed by an overwhelming majority of Parliamentarians.
