PHIs working in the Galle district have gone on a token strike today (12) over several demands, including the delay in obtaining PCR test reports for COVID19 patients and the lack of proper support from higher officials.
Accordingly, 118 Public Health Inspectors in the Galle District who are currently on duty are on sick leave.
The Union says that the reason for the token strike is the non-provision of vehicles for the PHIs who are on duty and non-payment of their transport allowance since September.
The Union also states that the Public Health Inspectors in the Galle District are abstaining from all other duties except those related to COVID19 deaths.
