Acting Solicitor General Sanjay Rajaratnam PC is being considered by the Parliamentary Council for the post of Attorney General.

He will replace Attorney General Dappula de Livera who is due to retire soon,

Sanjaya Rajaratnam is the most senior official in the Attorney General's Department.

De Livera was offered post the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Canada but had turned down the diplomatic posting.
