MP Harin Fernando, who is currently receiving treatment at the Nawaloka Hospital, Colombo, announced that he underwent a heart surgery successfully.

Fernando admitted himself to the private hospital a day after he made an explosive speech in Parliament on the alleged involvemet of some "intelligence officials" in the Easter Sunday attacks. It was widely specualated at that point that MP was facing imminent arrest under the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

Today, Fernando said, "Thank you for giving me another shot at life , amazing team, lead by the famous cardiologist Dr Gotabaya Ranasinghe. Complicated surgery which needed foreign treatment but performed locally by this excellent team. Thank you God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit for once again being my savior as always!"
