Colombo Archbishop His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said that 2019 April 21st Easter Sunday attacks was carried out by those who wanted to strengthen their political power.

The Archbishop of Colombo today attended the Blessing Ceremony of two monuments erected at the Borella and Madampitiya Cemeteries in memory of the victims of the Easter Sunday attack.

“This attack was not carried out by religious extremists. The attack on Easter Sunday was carried out by a group of people who tried to strengthen their political power by using that religious extremism as a pawn, ”said Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

He said that if any group tried to denigrate other religions, they would do more harm to their own religion and would continue to stand up for the victims of the Easter Sunday attack.
