Confusion reigns over the national list slot secured by the United National Party at the last Parliamentary election.
UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena said party leader and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would take oaths as an MP in Parliament in a month.
Abeywardena said Wickremesinghe was the party's unanimous choice for the national list MP slot in Parliament.
However, sources close to the former Prime Minister said Wickremesinghe had declined requests to accept the party's MP seat. They further added that the former Prime Minister had not yet changed his position on the matter.
