SJB Gampaha District candidate Ajith Mannapperuma took oaths as a Parliamentarian, a short while ago.

Mannapperuma replaces Ranjan Ramanayake who lost his parliamentary seat due to conviction for contempt of court.

Mannapperuma's name was gazetted by the Elections Commission yesterday after the Parliamentary Secretary-General announced that Ramanayake had vacated his MP seat.

However, the Speaker's ruling on Ramanayake's vacation of position has come under severe criticism from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya.
