The water bill at the residence of State Minister Jeevan Thondaman is over Rs. 600,000, the Central Province Water Supply and Drainage Board sources said.

Meanwhile, due to the non-payment of over Rs. 341 million in water bills during the period between April 2020 and February this year, a number of problems have arisen in the Central Province.

The provincial health authoritiesare yet to pay Rs. 35 million for water and the unpaid water bills on the part of the police authorities stand at Rs. 11 million.

The Water Supply and Drainage Board further states that although the relevant departments and individuals have been informed several times to pay the arrears of water bills expeditiously, the payments have not been made properly so far.
