The COVID19 vaccination programme has reportedly been suspended with immediate effect.

A letter signed by Chief Epidemiologist Sudath Samaraweera dated 31.03.2021 has been sent to the offices of the Regional Director of Health Services stating that the COVID19 vaccination has been suspended with immediate effect until further notice.

Accordingly, all MOH offices have been instructed to return all vaccines to the Epidemiology Unit through the offices of the Regional Director of Health Services.

The PHI Union said they were unaware of the reason for the sudden suspension of the vaccination programme.
