Speaking to a YouTube Channel, Weerasekera said Perera was transferred following multiple allegations of professional misconduct and an inquiry is currently underway.
“This is a temporary transfer. Wennappuwa is ASP Perera’s hometown and that is one reason for the issues involving the officer. As a result, we have transferred him to the neighboring police division,” Weerasekera added.
He said he was not aware as to how the letter sent by Fernando over the transfer of Perera was leaked to social media.
