A heated argument arose between Gampaha Distrct Wildlife Officer Devani Jayathilake and several state ministers of the government over a project allegedly destroying the magroves ecosystem in the Negombo area.

Jayatiake told the ministers that the wildlife authorities could not gove approval to the project under question until the relevant parties adopt adequate corrective action.

During the argument, state ministers Nimal Lanza and Prasanna Ranaweera were seen firing salvos at the state official for not giving way to the wishes of the government
