Former President Maithripala Sirisena said many people asked him not to take part in the parliamentary debate on the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCOI) report on the Easter Sunday attacks.
The PCOI report has recommended criminal proceedings against former President Sirisena over security failures leading to the Easter Sunday attacks.
"I am aware of the viewpoints shared by many over the incidents. It was a minister of the previous government who put the blame on me over security lapses," he added.
