Minister Wimal Weerawansa's conduct has come under severe criticism during a recent meeting between SLPP National Organiser Basil Rajapaksa and a group of backbench MPs in the party, informed political sources said.

The MPs, during the meeting, have stated that Weerawansa is working to create a sperate clique in the government and causing problems for the SLPP administration.

They have made it clear that such indivuals should be "rehabilitated" and appropriate action should be taken to discipline them.

In response, Rajapaksa has stated that no one will be allowed to create divisions in the government and such individuals will be "thrown away" from the ruling party, irrespective of their positions.

The former Minister has stated that Mahinda Rajapaksa's adminitsration was brought down in 2015 by the people who operated within the ruling camp.

"We will not leave room for such behavior this time," Rajapaksa had said.
