SJB MP Ranjan Ramanayake’s MP salary has been withheld by Parliament due to questions on his eligibility to serve as a Parliamentarian.

Ramanayake, convicted for contempt of court, is currently serving his sentence and a case is currently underway on his eligibility to serve as an MP. The decision to withhold the MP salary will apply until the ruling of the case.

The SJB has asserted that the party will fight for Ramanayake’s right to serve as an MP.

With Parliament withholding Ramanayake’s salary, he will officially lose access to all facilities and allowances granted for all Parliamentarians.
