Despite media reports carried in Tamil newspapers, Police said no student from the University of Jaffna has been arrested. 

Tamil newspapers reported today (24) that five students have been arrested by police for protesting against the inaction on the part of Police over an alleged assault on university students. 

Police Media Unit, Jaffna Police station and the office of DIG (North) confirmed Asian Mirror that no such arrest has been made.

Meanwhile, residents of Wadukkodai claimed yesterday that 25 people were arrested in a joint operation conducted by Army and Police in the area.
