Two Staffers Working At Hotel Occupied By English Cricket Team Diagnosed With COVID19: Management Says They Did Not Interact With Players

Two chefs in the kitchen of a five-star tourist hotel in Galle, where English cricketers are staying in Sri Lanka, have been diagnosed with COVID19 today (15), Galle Municipal Health Officer Dr. Bertram de Silva said.

The two will be referred to the Corona Medical Center for further treatment, the Galle Municipal Health Officer said.

The two infected workers are residents of Galle.

The two employees were diagnosed following a PCR test conducted by an Army medical team on their biological samples.

The hotel management said the two employees, who were infected with the virus, had never been in direct contact with the England cricket team.

Previously, Moeen Ali, a member of the England cricket team, was tested positive for COVID19 upon their arrival in Sri Lanka. It was further established that Ali had contracted the new strain of the virus currently spreading in the UK.
