The Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has sought a clarification from the Health Minister with regard to the tasks designated to the senior military officers appointed to coodinate COVID19 control measures in all districts.
The GMOA stated that some of its district branches have made representations to the main body claiming that the tasks designated to these officers are unclear.
The union has pointed that it is the Director General of Health Services who is tasked by the law of the country to implement health protocals. While appreciating the ancilliary duties carried out by the armed forced with regard to COVID19 management, the GMOA said the Department of Health should be the leading coordinator in all health-related activitis.
The letter makes it clear that the appointment of military officers to cordinate distict-level activities has caused ripples in the health circles.
