Imprisoned MPs Prevented From Attending Parliamentary Sessions Today Due To COVID Fear

Parliamentarians in remand custody will not be permitted to attend the parliamentary sessions for the budget speech today (17).

Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan (Pilleyan), Rishad Bathiudeen and Premalal Jayasekara (Choka Malli) who are in prison have been prevented from entering Parliament due to the rising number of COVID19 patients in a number of prisons.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to make the budget speech in Parliament today.
