The UNP headquarters 'Sirikotha' is on the verge of bankruptcy as it has become impossible to meet expenses for its daily functioning, informed party sources said.
The sources said that the staff was paid half of their salary last month and the minor staff had not been paid for several months.
All Sirikotha phones are currently disconnected and only incoming calls are active.
Earlier, money was spent on the maintenance of Sirikotha by former Minister Daya Gamage.
According to informed sources, UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, new Deputy Leader Ruwan Wijewardene and General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam have not been to the party headquarters for a long time.
