Informed government sources said that the curfew in the Western province is likely to be lifted on Monday, under strict guidelines.
Although the curfew will be lifted, there will strict restrictions on all kinds of gatherings of the public including sports and entertainment activities.
Addressing a meeting with the COVID19 Task Force yesterday, President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa said the curfew could not be continued forever as the country’s economy would take a severe beating.However, an official statement on the status of curfew in the Western province after Monday is yet to be made.
However, Sri Lanka has so far reported 29 deaths due to COVID19. The latest Corona clusters in the Peliyagoda Fish Market and Minuwangoda resulted in over 9000 cases across the country in nearly a month.
