Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa requested the government to discuss with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and ensue that the tavel ban on Army Commander Shavendra Silva lifted.
Speaking in Parliament, Premadasa requested Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena to raise the matter with the US Secretary of State during the latter's visit to Sri Lanka.
The US Secretary of State Pompeo is scheduled to visit to Sri Lanka on October 28.
Premadasa said he was instrumental in seconding Silva's name for the post of Army Commander under the previous administration.
Responding to Premadasa's request, Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said it was due to the conduct of the previous administation that a travel ban was imposed on the Army Commander.
