The proposed meeting between President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Mahanayakas of Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters on the ongoing UNHRC sessions will take place tomorrow (24), government sources said.
It is learnt that the Mahanayakas are likely to issue a statement ahead of the final vote on the US resolution against Sri Lanka at the 25th session of the UNHRC, urging the international community not to infringe upon the sovereignty of Sri Lanka.
The meeting will take place tomorrow as per a requst made by the two Mahanayakas of Malwatta and Asgiriya Chapters.
The Mahanayakas, the government sources said, have also sought meetings with Foreign Minister Professor G.L. Peiris and Human Rights Envoy of the President Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe.
