Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) chief Vaiko in a severe attack ahead of the upcoming elections on Saturday held the Congress responsible for the killings of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
Speaking at a media conference after the launch of MDMK's pre election manifesto, Vaiko blamed the Congress for the plight of Srilankan Tamils.
"Declaring war against Tigers (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) along with Sri Lanka, lakhs of Tamil people including children and women were killed and Congress alone is responsible for those killings," said Vaiko.
He further alleged that in spite of the decision of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to ban weapon supply to Sri Lanka in 1999, the Congress broke the decision in 2004.
He appealed to the people of Tamil Nadu to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for getting justice to the Tamil people. He maintained that even before the results from the 40 constituencies of Tamil Nadu were announced, he could predict that BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would become the Prime Minister.
"578 fishermen were killed by Lankans in the shore line issue between India and Sri Lanka. No one was there to question this .IN order to get justice; the people of Tamil Nadu should cast their vote for the National Janata Party. Without even the results from the 40 constituencies of Tamil Nadu, Modi is the Prime Minister," said Vaiko.
Recently MDMK entered in an alliance with BJP. (ANI)
