The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has carried out an internal investigation into the "unannounced power cuts" that took place on Monday.
It has now been revealed that the CEB has conducted the power cuts without any approval from the ministry or the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL).
The CEB authorities had informed the minister that the power cut was carried out arbitrarily by a handful of officers without consulting relevant authorities.
The government later decided to do away with power cuts following an intervention by Minister Mahinda Amaraweera.
