UPDATE: Rosy Senanayake And Imthiaz Bakeer Markar Also Removed From Working Committee: Attempts To Weaken Sajith Group In Party

Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayake and former Cabinet Minister Imthiaz Bakeer Markar have been sacked by UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe from the party Working Committee.

Working Committee is the supreme decision-making body of the party with regard to matters of critical importance such as the party leadership.

MPs Ajith P. Perera and Sarath Fonseka have also been removed from the party Working Committee without citing a reason.

The move is aimed at weakening the group supporting Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa's bid to become the party leader.
