Former President Maithripala Sirisena's brother Kumarasinghe Sirisena has resigned from his post as the Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom.

Sirisena's resignation was effective from January 06.

Sirisena held the position since 2015 as it was one of the first appointments made by the former President.

After President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa came to power, Sirisena's salary as SLT Chairman was slashed from Rs. 2.5 million to Rs. 250000.
