A recording of an alleged telephone conversation between UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake and SSP Shani Abeysekera is now in circulation on social media.

The recording was leaked to the social media space just hours after Ramanayake was granted bail by the Nugegoda Magistrate.

In the alleged recording, Abeysekera and Ramanayake seem to be discussing critical information pertaining to high-profile investigations.

Abeysekera was a high-ranking official at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the time.

He has now been transferred out as the Personal Assistant to the DIG-Southern Province.
