Wijayananda Herath has been appointed the Media Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Herath functioned as the Media Director to the President when Mahinda Rajapaksa served as the President before 2015.

He has also held a number of senior positions in the field of media relations and coordination.

Herath has completed his graduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Peradeniya.

He is currently reading for his PhD.
