In a diplomatic note to the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka, the Swiss Embassy has noted that 'excellent relations’ with Sri Lanka recently ‘marred by misunderstanding’ regarding the incident involving a local staff member.
The embassy has expressed regrets that ‘developments that have led to SL authorities' commitment to due process being called into question'.
The local embassy staff member, who is at the centre of an abduction controversy, was granted bail by the Colombo Magistrate yesterday.
She was arrested by the CID for fabricating evidence in order to level false allegations targetting the government.
