UNP MP Ajith P. Perera said legal action could be taken against Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, ruling party members Wimal Weerawansa and Udaya Gammanpila for propagating lies during the election period.
Speaking to the media today, Perera said they deceived the public by saying the MCC agreement could divide the country.
The former Minister was responding to the government's move to pursue legal action against Rajitha Senaratne over the controversial white van press conference.
Perera, a lawyer, said there was no provision in the penal code to file criminal action over a statement made during a press conference.
