Twenty seven Working Committee members of the UNP have sent a letter to party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe requesting the latter to convene the Working Committee before December 20.

In the letter, the group had said it was important to convene the Working Committee to discuss the current political situation.

All WC members who have signed the letter are supporters of Sajith Premadasa. The letter indicates the heightened power struggle in the UNP for party leadership.

The MPs who have signed the letter include Malik Samarawickrema, Mangala Samaraweera, Kabir Hashim and Rosy Senanayake.
