Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal has been appointed a Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister.

Cabraal headed the Central Bank during the period between 2006 and 2015.

He was closely involved with the political campaign of the Rajapaksa camp over the past 5 years.

Cabraal's appointment was endorsed at the Cabinet meeting which held under the auspices of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa last morning.

Meanwhile, former Foreign Minister and SLPP Chairman G.L. Peiris has also been appointed a Senior Advisor to the Prime Minister
